Plants are living organisms prone to getting weak and sick depending on the environment. If there a problem with a mulberry, the Tree Doctor diagnoses the cause aids the tree recovering by boosting its natural defenses. The treatment involves adequate nutrition, irrigation, soil change, pruning diseased branches, or another natural method.Every year, just the healthiest leaves meet the high standard of the Tree Doctor and are selected to become tea.

Mt. Aso’s exuberant nature, charming islands, and warm weather provide a bounty environment for the mulberry plantation. The volcanic soil rich in nutrients and the crystalline water flowing from the mountains are the sustaining base of the mulberry trees.
We use advanced freeze-drying technology to preserve the nutrients and flavor of the leaves. The result is a fine powder of well-rounded flavor, easy to dissolve and use.
Cultivation that does not rely on pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
When we eat vegetables and fruits, it is common to wash and peel them to remove dirt or impurities. However, we can not do the same with tea. For this reason, many people are concerned about the safety of their tea.
As we explained before, we solely use mulberry leaves cultivated without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. It is a formidable task because mulberries are susceptible to attack by numerous pests. The growing method consists of improving the soil using charcoal. It also enhances water retention, moisturizes the ground, and replenishes mineral nutrients. The Tree Doctor maintains pest and disease in check using a traditional Japanese control method consisting of spraying wood vinegar. For centuries Japanese people have lived in harmony with nature. We invite you to drink sonomono mulberry tea with peace of mind.

The secret of a tasty tea is leaf selection. A group of experts inspects an area equivalent to 12 baseball fields and handpick the best leaves. Mechanical harvesting mixes old and young leaves and damages the trees. Manual harvesting is a strenuous activity that requires patience and love. Still, it is necessary to maintain the highest possible quality. The fruit of this effort is a splendid tea of unsurpassed quality.
Among farmers, there is an affectionate saying: the growth of mulberry leaves is like raising a child. It takes a lot of work but satisfies your heart.

Mulberries arrived in Japan during the Kamakura period (1185–1333). During the Edo period (1603-1867), the Japanese improved the varieties for using the leaves as tea. Traditionally, mulberry tea is used for health purposes, occupying a prominent place in Chinese medicine until today.
People who heavily consume sweets and carbohydrates can benefit from mulberry tea’s beneficial properties.
It also contains calcium, commonly deficient in the Japanese diet, and healthy ingredients widely recommended for women, such as dietary fiber and vitamins. In addition, since it does not contain caffeine, you can take it without worries every day.

Please be aware of the following:
For crafting our tea, we powder the whole tea leaves. This process creates a powder of big particles that trends to settle. It is possible to make a powder that dissolves quickly by removing the leaves’ dietary fiber, but it will also remove essential nutrients.
We prefer to keep all nutrients even if it somehow affects the solubility.
We recommend mixing vigorously with a spoon and drinking the tea immediately for the tea to dissolve evenly.
The DNJ content per a 50g bag of mulberry leaf tea is about 0.1g.
